Hi Parents,

We have had a FANTASTIC first few weeks of school! We are so excited for an amazing year together!

In kindergarten, the students have been exploring the five senses through our reading curriculum and other literature. In math, students have been practicing sorting and counting, laying the foundation for number skills. Alongside all of this, we have been teaching them the importance of following rules and how they create a safe and respectful environment. Stay tuned for more updates!

Reminders:

-A peanut free snack and water bottle should be sent each day.

-We love celebrating birthdays! Students can celebrate at school by bringing in individually wrapped, prepackaged treats. Please no cupcakes. Please coordinate with your teacher if your child’s birthday falls on a weekend, break, or day we are not in school.

-No school on Monday, September 4^th.

ELA: ESSENTIAL QUESTION: How do our senses help us learn?

Students will…

-Practice and reflect on instructional routines and strategies.

MATH:

-Explore and use math tools.

-Sort objects based on different attributes.

-Recognize that the number of objects in a set represents quantity.

-Use appropriate word choice to reason about similarities and differences of sorted objects.

-Answer “How Many” questions.

-Count groups of up to 10 objects.

-Classify objects and count number of objects in each category

Social/Emotional Learning (SEL)

-Learning the importance of following the rules at school

-Understand and use strategies for self-management

-Demonstrate awareness and consideration of other people’s emotions, perspectives, and social cues
