Kindergarten News: 12/8
Hello Families!
This upcoming week, the students will be identifying characteristics, key details and retelling various texts. In math, we are continuing working on representing numbers to 10. Please keep working with your student on their heart word book and return it on Thursdays. These are words the students should know by heart. Stay tuned for more updates!
Reminders:
-A peanut free snack and water bottle should be sent each day.
-We love celebrating birthdays! Students can celebrate at school by bringing in individually wrapped, prepackaged treats.
-Gingerbread Party December 19th 8:10-9:00am.
–Half day December 20th
–No school for winter break December 21st-January 8th
ELA: FOCUSING QUESTION: How do authors create characters?
Students will…
-Read, enjoy, and analyze literary texts and visual art.
-Identify and understand an element of a story
-Identify how words and pictures work together
-Understand the difference between fiction and non-fiction books
-Identify key details, characters, setting and parts of a story
-Review all the letters we have done
MATH:
-Represent numbers to 10
-Represent numbers using manipulatives and written expressions
-Subtract numbers within 10
-Add numbers within 10
Social/Emotional Learning (SEL)
-Understand and use strategies for managing my emotions and behavior constructively
-Demonstrate awareness and consideration of other people’s emotions, perspectives, and social cues
-Understand why we have rules and the importance of them
-Understand the importance of sharing and taking turns
-Understand problems and ways to solve them
