Kindergarten News: 2/16
Hello Families!
This upcoming week, the students will be continuing to analyze life in America then and now. The students will represent numbers to 20 and identify characteristics of shapes. Please keep working with your student on their heart word book and return it on Thursdays. These are words the students should know by heart. Stay tuned for more updates!
Reminders:
-A peanut free snack and water bottle should be sent each day.
-We love celebrating birthdays! Students can celebrate at school by bringing in individually wrapped, prepackaged treats.
-No school on February 19th
-February 22th: Kindergarten Field Trip
Read-a-Thon Information
Read-a-Thon begins February 20th-March 8th. READ, READ, READ! Tally your reading on the reading logs. Parents need to initial each reading log entry. Work on your challenges on the challenge cards. More information coming home in you student’s Friday folder! Don’t hesitate to reach out to Ms. Stuart (emily.stuart@mnps.org) with questions!
ELA: How has life has changed in America?
Students will…
-Read, enjoy, and analyze literary texts and visual art.
-Compare in school and home then and now
-Write about life in America then and now
MATH: Identify shapes and their characteristics
-Count objects up to 20
-Write teen numbers
-Represent teen numbers using manipulatives
-Understand ten and some ones
Social/Emotional Learning (SEL)
-Demonstrate awareness and consideration of other people’s emotions, perspectives, and social cues
-Understand why we have rules and the importance of them
-Understand the importance of sharing and taking turns
-Understand that what we think affects how we think and how we think and how we behave
