Percy’s Reading Party is finally here! Join us this Thursday in the Cafeteria and Library for one of our favorite community events. Families can enjoy reading-themed activities and games, puzzles, a storybook walk, special appearances by Percy the Tiger, and a Chitty Chitty Bang Bang-inspired snack. No sign-up needed—just drop in for a cozy evening of reading fun!

Can you help make Percy’s Reading Party extra magical? Check out ways to help – from providing bottled water to helping our tigers with fun activities – sign up today!

GOOD NEWS! We were able to get an extension on our yearbook order deadline, and you can still order yearbooks until February 25th. On that day we give Jostens the final number of books to create. We never know if they will print extras for us to sell until the books come in. Don’t take a chance and order today! You do not want to miss out on this opportunity to have a treasured book of memories to look back on for years to come. Order yours today here!

Upcoming Community and Fundraiser Events

Join us for Fine Arts Night at Percy Priest! Mrs. Taylor is working on the run of show for some fabulous performances from our performing arts groups, while Dr. A. is helping students finish and select works of art for the art show! We will have over 1,100 works of art on display, which is about two pieces per artists. The Fine Arts Night will be held on March 6th, from 5:00-7:00pm. Don’t miss out! It will be the last Fine Arts Night held at our current building before we move on up the hill!

 

March 18: PTO Meeting and New Building Tour

March 25: Math Night with Mathnasium!

Games?  Fun?  Contests and Prizes?  Yes!! Get Ready for Math Night at PPE!  Drop in on March 25th anytime between 5:00pm to 7:00pm for lots of brain-challenging games, awesome prizes, and tons of fun.  The entire family is welcome!

March 29: Spring Auction at Richland Country Club

Grade Level Artwork Date Change: Winter weather forced us to move our project to Wednesday, March 5th. If you can join as a volunteer to help alongside artist Brittany Bishop as students glaze a flower petal on a pizza stone and sign the pizza peel from 9:45am until 2:30pm on 3/5, please email percypriestauction@gmail.com.

Silent Auction Item Requests: A “Chattanooga Road Trip” basket is in the works but we’d love to add another business or two to the bundle. If you have connections to Chattanooga area businesses or organizations you can connect us with, email percypriestauciton@gmail.com. It’s here! The 2025 Read-A-Thon kicked off Tuesday. This year we are reading Ian Fleming’s classic book Chitty Chitty Bang Bang! FAQ information sheets, reading logs, and the challenge card were sent home in students’ red Chitty Chitty folder. Students will keep all things read-a-thon related (reading logs, challenge board, coloring sheets, etc.) in this folder and it should travel with them between home and school.  

Tuesday, February 18th – Monday, March 3rd:  

  • READ, READ, READ! During breakfast, in the car, outside, under the covers! 
  • Tally your reading on the reading logs. Parents need to initial each reading log entry.  
  • Work on your Chitty Chitty challenge board. Students can collect their badges as they complete the challenges (buttons coordinate to the challenge board colors). 

Friday, March 7th:  

  • CELEBRATION DAY – Favorite Book Character Dress-Up Day!  
  • Students who achieve the 100 book (Kindergarten) and 1,500 minute (1st-5th) challenge will be recognized during morning announcements and receive a certificate and prize.
All Percy priest moms are invited to attend this non-school-sponsored lunch and parenting talk. Mom’s Thrive is put on by fellow PPE moms who want to help develop community and encourage and equip moms with tools that lead to grace-filled parenting.

Heart’s Garden – Recent News Article
As previously celebrated, Percy Priest is the first Metro Nashville public school and the first school in Middle Tennessee to receive recognition as a Grief-Sensitive School by the New York Life Foundation. This recent news article gives more information into the Hearts Garden that will be created at our new school by our school Counselors where students and staff can decorate rocks in memory of their loved ones. We have such an amazing school and community and this is another way our incredible staff supports our children!

In case you missed it above, you can have a chance to tour the new building on the March 18 PTO meeting. We do need to know who is coming so see above for RSVP link!

FAQ 6: What is something exciting about the new Cafeteria we don’t know? We are glad you asked! The Cafeteria is much larger than our existing building. With this and the combination of upgraded acoustic panels we are expecting a positive impact on the lunch time environment!

Friendly reminder to check lost and found! At the end of each month these unclaimed items get donated.

MNPS Kindergarten Registration

Kindergarten Registration for the 2025-26 school year is open.  If you or someone you know has an incoming kindergartner, please encourage them to complete registration as early as possible.  For information regarding enrollment requirements, please visit this site.

Papa John’s Spirit Night – February 20

PPE friends and family, take the night off from cooking and feed the family while supporting the school! Use our unique code: PPES when ordering from Papa John’s and the PTO will receive 20% of all orders placed using that code. You can pre-order days in advance just make sure to select the appropriate date and input our unique code.

Parnassus Books Spirit Night-February 23 

Are you excited and ready for this year’s Read-A-Thon?! While you wait for more details coming soon…

Join our amazing community at the beloved Parnassus Books (3900 Hillsboro Pike #14) on Friday, February 23rd between 3:00-6:00 pm to get your tiger some new reading material. 10% of all purchases will be donated to the PPE PTO.

February 25: Family Skate Night

Help us raise money for Percy Priest Elementary PTO and enjoy a night of fun with our wonderful community. Brentwood Skate Center will give 50% of all admission fees on Tuesday, February 25 from 4:30-7:00 PM back to the PTO. These funds will be used to support the PTO budget which provides the school with additional supplies and staff. Thank you so much for your support, we can’t wait to see you there!

Parents, grandparents and special friends are welcome to eat lunch with students! To help us with space and accommodating guests, we ask that visitors sign-up to come eat lunch using the bookings link below. Please be sure to select the correct grade level and teacher. When signing-up, we also ask that you only sign-up for one day at this time. Thank you for your help and we hope to see you for lunch soon. Sign up to come eat lunch with your student!
