2nd Grade News: 08/30/2024

Ask your 2nd Grader:

  • Can you recount what happens in The Little Yellow Leaf?
  • Why is evidence important in informative writing?
  • What is a verb? Can you give some examples?
  • What is an adjective? Can you give some examples?
  • What is a fraction?
  • Which is greater ½ or ⅓ ? Would you rather have ½ of a cookie or ⅓ of a cookie?
  • What is technology?

 

What 2nd Graders Are Learning Next Week:

 ELA (English Language Arts):

  • Wit and Wisdom Module 1: A Season of Change
    • Essential Question: How does change impact people and nature? 
    • Learning Goals:
      • Identify story elements and evidence of change in A Color of His Own.
      • Classify questions about A Color of His Own that relate to prior knowledge.
      • Make real-life connections to the word camouflage and use a dictionary to confirm its meaning.
      • Recount what happens in A Color of His Own.
      • Form complete sentences with multiple subjects.

Tennessee Foundational Skills:

  • Read different consonant spellings
  • Read tricky words
  • Identify the different sounds for the past-tense marker -ed
  • Spelling words: snacking, mixing, smelling, running, kissing, buzzing, hitting, until, problem, how

 

Math:

  • Place Value

 

Social Studies/Science (We will rotate between science and social studies every two weeks.):

  • Engineering and Design Process
