PTO Newsletter 9/6

It may have been a short week, but it was a full one! We seem to be hitting our stride at school and September has so many community events and fundraisers in store. Come join in!

Keep an eye out below for tons of new info and for lots of volunteer opportunities – each event needs helping hands where you can still be present but make the event extra special.

Don’t forget to INVEST! While striving to meet our donation goal, remember that pledging to support (without a monetary donation) also hits the participation target as well. We would love to see 100% participation and we know we can do it! You can find more information on INVEST here and below.

Tiger Cup Golf Tournament: this Monday!

Percy Priest PTO’s Tiger Cup Golf Tournament is almost HERE! On Monday, September 9th at Old Natchez Country Club in Franklin, PPE golfers will tee off for a day of fun!

September 19: Percy’s Vintage Closet

Pre-loved PPE Attire Needed by September 13!

It is that time of year- time to clean out your Tiger’s closet before school starts! From now until September 13th, we will be accepting gently used clothing items  or accessories that have PPE’s logo for our “Percy’s Vintage Closet” sale on September 19 (conveniently after drop off from 7:30-9)! Anything you’d like to pass on to another Tiger, please drop off on the school’s front porch. Look for the marked plastic bins that say “Pre-loved PPE attire” and we’ll take it from there.  Thank you!


September 20: Fall Community Event

Mark your calendars for a truly unique fall PPE community event! This year, we’re combining our annual fall gathering with a special “Topping Out” Ceremony, marking the completion of the gym’s roof structure—a major milestone in our construction project. It’s an experience you won’t want to miss!

Join us on Friday, September 20th at Percy Priest Elementary for an afternoon of fun, community spirit, and celebration. Here’s what you can look forward to:

  • Ice Cream Bar with all the toppings (see what we did there?)
  • Games for all ages
  • “Get to Know You” Bingo to connect with fellow community members
  • Time Capsule Filling Station—be part of history!
  • Roar Store on-site with school spirit gear
  • Music and Festivities to celebrate our great school community and the final year in our historic building
  • Opportunity to volunteersign up now and still experience the event while you help out.

Come celebrate, connect, and make memories with us. We can’t wait to see you there!

October 2: Songs Under the Stars – Tickets on Sale NOW!

Grab your tickets to this amazing event – a great line up and a great cause! Tickets normally sell out. Note that to park a vehicle at Dyer you must have a valet ticket but these are limited – grab your tickets today! Teacher tickets are on sale soon!

Need a babysitter for Songs Under the Stars night? Don’t forget about Wyndy, the babysitting app. Find, book and pay background checked college student sitters and give back to Percy Priest Elementary. Post a job and use school code PPES. Wyndy will give back $5 of every completed job to the Percy Priest Elementary PTO

Crazy 8s Math Club: 2nd grade, Wednesdays, Mrs. Parker, more information here.

Homework Helpers Club: K-5th, Tuesdays, starts Sept 10, Mrs. Parker and Mrs. Simmons, more information here.
SEL / STEAM Club: K & 1st grade, Thursdays, Mrs. Lester and Mrs. Strobel. Our first club date is Thursday, September 12th! Email lovie.lester@mnps.org to reserve your spot. Our enrollment form and all the details are here.
Builders Club: Builders Club is an after-school activity for K-2nd grade students filled with problem solving, imagination, self-expression, math skills, spatial sense and motor abilities, creativity, and social and emotional growth. The Fall Session with Ms.Faison and Ms.Wall begins in September. *10 Sessions: Tuesdays or Thursdays after school till 4:00. More info and enrollment form here!

Manners Monday Club

Fundraisers

September 6-22: Pumpkin and Mums Fundraiser Sale
Support the Percy Priest Elementary PTO budget while getting Fall Festive with mums and pumpkin stacks from Market Fresh Produce. These are the prettiest, most impressive mums and pumpkins around, and all proceeds go back to the PTO to provide additional staff and materials to the school which impacts every child.

September 19: Papa John’s Spirit Night

PPE friends and family, take the night off from cooking and feed the family while supporting the school! Use our unique code: PPES when ordering from Papa John’s and the PTO will receive 20% of all orders placed using that code. You can pre-order days in advance just make sure to select the appropriate date and input our unique code. There will be plenty of Papa John nights that will help benefit our school.



Get Involved!

Come Have Lunch!

Parents, grandparents and special friends are welcome to eat lunch with students! To help us with space and accommodating guests, we ask that visitors sign-up to come eat lunch using the bookings link below. Please be sure to select the correct grade level and teacher. When signing-up, we also ask that you only sign-up for one day at this time. Thank you for your help and we hope to see you for lunch soon. Sign up to come eat lunch with your student!

You can subscribe to our PTO calendar and have all of our events show up on your calendar, so you never lose track of important dates!
